Mariia Ermolenko is an artist working with photography, graphics, installation, and photo books. In her practice, she explores boundaries between reality and the magical, capturing moments where the familiar takes on a new dimension. Her works evoke the effect of “ringing silence,” where still space is filled with tension and anticipation.
Mariia defines her visual language as “magical realism”, through which she engages with the present, constructing her worlds. One of the key themes in her work is memory—its distortions, errors, and influence on the perception of reality.
She works across various mediums, including painting, photography, object creation, and photobooks. Born in 1995, she lives and works in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of Grandmama’s Print magazine.
